Thank Him For The Rain

He stoked the furnace up,
He drenched me in cold rain.
I, in my gloomy darkness,
Couldn’t understand the pain.
My choice shelter was shattered,
My protective seed destroyed.
Worst of all, I lost my faith,
Feeling only a pawn with which He cruelly toyed!

Thank Him….Thank Him for the rain,
The drenching, driving, dreary, rain.
Through each tear I can’t explain,
I must thank Him for the rain.

Feeling forlorn, alone,
Some tried to comfort me,
But covered with my black dirt,
Their bright world I couldn’t see.
He wouldn’t leave me dormant,
No matter how hard I cried.
When I asked, “Why?” He answered.
So soon do you forget for whom I died?

Thank Him… Thank Him for the rain,
The drenching, driving, dreary rain.
Through each tear I can’t explain,
I must thank him for the rain.

He forced me to reach….high
Beyond my comfort zone.
Forgave my rebellious heart,
And taught it a new tone.
Went before and broke the ground,
So that my seedling could burst
Free into His Son filled world.
I am so ashamed, I didn’t thank HIM FIRST!!!

Thank Him… Thank Him for the rain,
The drenching, driving, dreary rain.
Though each tear I can’t explain,
I must thank Him for the rain.
