The Andover Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), 97.1 BOB-FM and 100.5 the Wolf are proud to announce the third annual FREE concert in the park this Saturday, June 20.
In addition to the concert, the People’s Choice Barbecue Competition is back, hosted by All Things Barbecue. The Barbecue Competition will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tasting kits will be sold for $5.
The concert will start at 7 p.m. with Restless Heart opening for Diamond Rio. Access to Central Park will begin at 5 p.m. Although the concert is free, concert-goers must have a wristband. Several local businesses distributed wristbands since May 5 and most of the 15,000 wristbands were picked up by Saturday, June 13. A limited number still remain at Parks Motors of Augusta (11987 US-54, Augusta) and Collision Center of Andover (948 N Andover Rd, Andover).
Additionally, if people would like to attend the concert, they should listen to 97.1 BOB-FM or 100.5 the Wolf. Both stations will be giving away wristband packages up until the show. Please do not bring pets or grills; neither will be allowed in the park the day of the show. The idea for a summer concert in the park stemmed from the desire of the Andover CVB to build a permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Park.
The CVB recommends the Andover City Council approve a project to build an amphitheater in Central Park, as soon as financing can be determined. More details about the Amphitheater project can be found at www.andoverks.com/cvb. The Andover Convention and Visitors Bureau is funded through hotel guest taxes received through the two local hotels: Days Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Andover general fund tax dollars are not being used to pay for the event.
