The Barton Community College baseball team earned two of the nine Golden Glove Awards and landed three players on the KJCCC All-Conference Western Division Team announced recently.  Sophomores Jordan Plank and Trevor Turner headline the defensive awards while Evan McDonald earned second team All-Conference honors with Plank being joined by freshman Lance White landing on the honorable mention selection list.

Jordan Plank led the awards with a tremendous sophomore season going 7-2 on the hill with a 2.91 ERA.  Selected as an honorable mention selection, the left handed pitcher was also recognized for his fielding scooping up both the Jayhawk West and Region VI Gold Glove Awards pitching 77.1 innings with a perfect fielding percentage.  The Wichita native shut down No. 19 Neosho County Community College in his final start as a Cougar career striking out eight batters giving up only two hits in 7.2 innings before exiting with a 2-1 lead in first round Region VI action.  Unfortunately for Plank and the Cougars, Barton fell victim to a late Panther rally dropping the first of two games to end the season.

Selected as a second team All-Conference second baseman, Evan McDonald led the Cougars from the top of the lineup batting .369 with sixty-nine hits and four triples.  In the top three of most offensive categories for the Cougars, McDonald ranked second on the team with a .441 on-base percentage, twenty walks, and swiping nineteen stolen bases.  A versatile infielder for the Cougars in his two seasons, the Platte City, Missouri, native started at the hot corner throughout his freshman season before spending time in the middle of the diamond to his eventual second base position.

Lance White held down the hot corner for the Cougars this season, as the third baseman from Midland, Texas, batted .306 with a team leading six homeruns.  Tying for the team lead with twelve doubles and thirty-one runs batted in, White ranked second on the team with a .510 slugging percentage.

Trevor Turner closed out his Barton career with a Jayhawk West Gold Glove Award for his defensive prowess in centerfield committing just one error in 112 total chances.  Sliding into different roles up and down the batting lineup throughout the season, the Hutchinson, Kansas, native didn’t quite reach his freshman campaign offensive numbers but was still a threat for the Cougars.   Batting .286 on the season, Turner led the Cougars with twenty-two stolen bases while ranking top five in most of the team’s offensive categories.
