Goessel Community Foundation awards $2,150 in Grants

The Goessel Community Foundation awarded five community grants Friday evening, April 15, at a 5-year Celebration & Recognition event hosted by the foundation board.

  • Bethesda Home received a $900 grant from the Goessel Senior Endowment to help fund the local delivery of meals to senior citizens.
  • The Goessel Public Library received $500 from the Impact Endowment to replace outdated library computer monitors.
  • USD 411 received $250 from the Impact Endowment for the Goessel Grade School Gardening Project for seeds and supplies.
  • Tabor Food Pantry received $250 from the Impact Endowment for purchasing items for the pantry.
  • Families and Community Services received $250 to be given to the Kinderhaus Child Care program for their Family Financial Assistance Fund.

John Fast, GCF board member, presented pictures of “What is a Community Foundation” by explaining the purpose and progress that the Foundation has made in its first five years.

After the 2016 Grant Recipients were announced, Myron Schmidt, GCF board chair, closed the evening by highlighting successful foundations and how the work of foundations enhance and promote projects for the good of the community.

The Goessel Community Foundation’s current fundraising campaign seeks to raise $117,000 for it local Impact Fund by the year 2017.
