The City of Pretty Prairie is looking towards adopting an estimated $2,417,600 strategy to improve the quality of the water to its residents. The nitrate level has exceeded the federal and start limit of 10 parts per million with the latest readings of 22, 23.4 and 20.6 for the months of August, September, and October. Improvements would include replacing the city’s 1919 water tower with a new 50,000-gallon water tower, a reverse osmosis system and a well that would hold 15,000 gallons of clear water.
