Salina: City approves purchase of field house

According to the City’s website Salina City Commission on Monday approved the purchase of property at the southeast corner of Fifth and Ash to build a field house as part of the proposed redevelopment of downtown Salina.  Parks and Recreation Director Dion Louthan said the purchase price was $628,279.71.  “That includes the physical property, building demolition, site improvements, hazardous material abatement, utility fees, surveying costs, engineering services, loan interest, property taxes, phase I environmental and various other expenses,” Louthan said.City Manager Jason Gage said the the property was sold at cost.  Louthan said the money for the $9 million field house is coming equally from private funds and the city. In addition to the field house, downtown developers are proposing a downtown hotel, an entertainment center, a car museum, renovations to downtown Santa Fe and much more
