K-State Watershed Specialists Conduct Free Livestock Solar Watering Systems and Tire Tank Workshop October 23, 2015

Kansas State University watershed specialists will conduct a stock water workshop on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m., at the Garten family farm west of Abilene, Kansas.

Herschel George and Ron Graber of K-State Research and Extension will demonstrate solar watering systems for livestock and provide instructions for installing tire tanks.

The workshop is free, and a sandwich lunch will be provided to those who register by Oct. 22. To register, call the Central Kansas District Extension at 785-308-5850, or contact Dickinson County Environmental Services at 785-263-4780.

The Garten family farm is located a quarter mile south of Interstate 70, at exit 272, and three-quarters of a mile west.

This solar watering systems and tire tank installation workshop is made possible by the support of Lower Smoky Hill River WRAPS (Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy) groups, Natural Resources Conservation Service, K-State Research and Extension, and funds made possible by the Environmental Protection Agency Clean Water Act Section 319.
