Derby Fire and Rescue received a new Squad truck at Fire Station 82. The 2015 truck replaces the original Squad 82 purchased in 2005. Over 10 years time, Squad 82 responded to 10,500 calls and logged 6,400 hours of operation. The new squad truck offers improvements in fuel efficiency, equipment storage and a diesel pump motor.  Derby Fire & Rescue uses its two squad trucks (one at Fire Station 81 and one at Fire Station 82) for responding to medical and rescue calls, motor vehicle accidents, grass/brush fires and other calls. The trucks are also used when firefighters perform business inspections and hydrant preventive maintenance duties.
