Global Industries, Inc. has announced the winning entry in the company’s “Project of the Year” competition, an annual event which reviews and selects top engineering projects from lists submitted by each of the company’s four divisions.  Global Industries’ divisions include MFS/York/Stormor of Grand Island, NE;  Hutchinson-Mayrath in Clay Center, KS; Nebraska Engineering Company, (NECO) based in Omaha, NE and Sentinel Building Systems in Albion, NE.

Ten projects were submitted for consideration for the 2015 honor, and submissions were judged by members of the Global corporate staff using criteria such as the projects overall impact on the business; cost efficiency, quality, safety, improved production efficiency, research & development and innovation.

The winning 2015 entry was submitted by MFS for the redesign of their EZee Dry grain storage bin.  Although the voting was close, the EZee dry project was chosen based on the cooperative effort required from multiple department resources and teams, and the scope of the project that included a complete redesign of the product’s roof, plenum structure and control systems.

“At MFS/York/Stormor our focus is to develop and manufacture new and improve products that set the industry standard for strength, long life and quality that are sold at competitive prices,” said MFS President Dan Faltin.  “The next generation Ezee Dry takes the original time tested overhead grain drying and storage system and makes it even better.  It will set a new standard in the industry for overhead grain drying and storage systems.”

“Global Industries strives for world-class engineering,” added Dr. Volkan Kebeli, Global Industries’ vice president of engineering.  “Our mission is to be the globally recognized leader in innovative and enhanced product designs. The purpose of this annual award is to promote innovative designs and to recognize outstanding work performed by our talented engineering teams while creating a fun and a competitive way of recognizing their engineering excellence.”

This is the seventh year for the Global “Project of the Year” Awards, which was originally developed to encourage the development of new and innovative features and products for the agricultural industry; to foster a spirit of friendly competition between the Global divisions; and to recognized the advanced technical and engineering skills of Global employees that continue to make Global products industry leaders in their respective markets.  Runners-up in this year’s competition included a Dryer Drag Conveyor Unload from NECO, and a 10-inch Double Run Vertical Discharge and 90-degree Corner by Hutchinson-Mayrath.
