Are you thinking about your 2017 goals yet?
It takes a lot of volunteer leaders to help the 4-H in different projects. While we have great leaders in Harvey County, we need even more people to dedicate a few hours a month to invest in our youth. So, here’s a list of leaders needed. Maybe you can help us in 2017 or you know someone who could volunteer, too.
Dairy Cattle and Dairy Goats: teach about raising and managing dairy animals.
Energy – Electric/Electronics: teach general electrical concepts.
Fiber Arts: teach knitting, crocheting, needle arts, patchwork and quilting, rug making, spinning, weaving, ethnic arts or macramé.
Foods and Nutrition: teach how to cook the basics and more.
Health and wellness: teach about health and wellness – physical activities such as bicycling or outdoor adventures.
Pets: teach how to take care of that special lizards, fish, cats and more.
Plant Science: includes field crops, horticulture, forestry.
Reading: explore library resources and find a new author.
Shooting sports – BB gun: leader for this project will attend shooting sports training in April, 2017.
Robotics: teach about robot arms, legs, wheels or underwater propulsion.
Computers: teach basic components of a computer, study software applications, teach internet safety.
Astronomy: teach the history of the telescopes, and building a simple telescope.
Woodworking: instruct the safe way of using tools and building things.
Junior Leaders: work collaboratively with a co-leader and I to plan the Junior Leaders’ program throughout the year. Organize meetings, leadership lessons, community service and fund-raisers.
Contact the Extension Office next week and pledge to give back to the Harvey County youth in 2017.
