Shell Eggs Broken Up 13 Percent from Last Year

December 2015 contained 23 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 4 Saturdays.

December 2016 contained 22 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 5 Saturdays.

Shell eggs broken totaled 196 million dozen during December 2016, up 13 percent from December a year ago, and slightly above the 195 million broken during the previous month.

During calendar year 2016, shell eggs broken totaled 2.29 billion dozen, up 9 percent from 2015. Cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2016 was 2.94 billion pounds, up 8 percent from 2015.
