Elaine Lierly Jones, pastel artist of Gardner, Kansas will be the Artist-In-Residence at the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main St., Lindsborg, Sunday, April 30th to Sunday, May 21st. Jones says, “This year I plan to use my time focusing on where I came from rather than where I am going. When I was first learning to use pastels in 2001, my instructor set up still life’s with dramatic lighting. What a great learning tool that is! Besides doing occasional plein air paintings, my recent pieces have been derived from photos. I feel the need to step back and refresh those skills needed for drawing life.” She continues to say, “I also want to study in-depth some artists’ work I admire.” Every year that Jones returns for her residence at the Red Barn Studio, she has added to her already long, list of local regional and national awards and honors that she has won for her work.
