Hunting with family

Thanksgiving means family, friends and traditions. Combine all of those with some outdoor fun by making a Nebraska pheasant hunt part of your plans this week. Here’s 5 quick reasons why you should.

1. It’s a great way to make family memories. Invite multiple generations of hunters. Both novice and experienced hunters will enjoy it — even the dogs will have a good time!

2. Family from out-of-state can join in. Those here for the weekend can take advantage of our special 2-day non-resident hunting permit. (Or buy them an annual permit and invite them back next weekend!)

3. Game and Parks is stocking pheasants at 14 wildlife management areas just for the occasion. They are: Oak Valley (Madison County), Wilkinson (Platte County), Sherman Reservoir (Sherman County), Pressey (Custer County), Branched Oak (Lancaster County), Yankee Hill (Lancaster County), Twin Oaks (Johnson County), Hickory Ridge (Johnson County), Cornhusker (Hall County), Peru Bottoms (Nemaha County), Kirkpatrick Basin North (York County), Schilling (Cass County), Arrowhead (Gage County), and George Syas (Platte County).

4. Nebraska’s quail population is excellent right now — and you can hunt for both pheasant and quail at the same time.

5. This is a great way to work off a big holiday dinner — and to make room for extra helpings of pumpkin pie!

Join us this weekend for a traditional Nebraska pheasant hunt, and pick up a permit now. And remember that time outdoors hunting with family and friends is always time well spent.
