Sometimes a very simple act can have important long-lasting benefits.  According to parenting and health experts, that is exactly the case with family mealtimes.  Eating and talking together can help children be happier, healthier and more successful at school.  Eating together develops a sense of family identity and togetherness and helps children feel safe and secure in a world that can be confusing.

Moms always appreciate a helping hand from the family at mealtime.  I am sure Hannah Bauman’s mom appreciates Hannah making Quick Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits for their family meal.  Here is her champion recipe.  Hannah is a member of the Halstead Cloverleaf 4-H Club.

QUICK CHEESY-GARLIC DROP BISCUITS

2 cups self-rising flour

2 tsp. Baking powder

¼ tsp garlic powder

1 tbsp sugar

½ cup mayonnaise (regular or light)

1 cup milk

¼ cup butter, melted

½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Mix together first four ingredients. Add mayonnaise, milk, butter, and shredded cheese.  Mix together until well blended.  Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 450 F for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes 1 ½  dozen

ENJOY !
