Landing in the top ten on almost every offensive single season and career chart in the storied history of Cougar soccer, Barton Community College’s Renan Sousa joins a distinguished NJCAA Division I All-American list being named to the nation’s 2nd Team.  The sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, becomes the fourteenth Cougar to earn All-American status.  Kevin Ellis and Craig Ratanamorn earned All-American status twice, bringing Barton’s total to sixteen awards in fifteen years of competition.

Sousa earlier received one of the two highest conference honors being named as the Offensive Player of the Year for his forty-three point performance on the season, ninth best in Cougar history.  The sophomore midfielder repeated his first team all-region selection improving to the first team all-conference from last year’s second team.   In addition to the single season points scored placing in the record books, Sousa’s fifteen assists finished one shy of tying the school record.  In his career Sousa finished eighth in points scored (60), fourth in assists (18), and tied for tenth in goals scored (21).
