The Barton Community College women’s basketball program announces the signings of three of the top players from Memphis, Tennessee.  Ridgeway High School’s Oreona Brown and Alexus Bryson, who helped lead their school to a 24-2 season spending most of the year as Tennessee’s top ranked high school, will be joined by Manassas High School’s Shyanne Stevenson as a triple-threat Volunteer State connection for the 2015-16 Lady Cougars.

Brown, a 5’6″ combo guard, was named to the All-District 15AAA team earning her way to the Tennessee Basketball Coaches All-Star Team, as well as, being named to the Pepsi Best of the Preps Team.

“Oreona is a really strong, talented athletic guard,” said Barton Assistant Coach Alan Clark. “We are extremely pleased she has chosen Barton to continue her career.  She will have an immediate impact on the Jayhawk Conference.”

Bryson, a 5’4″ point guard, led Ridgeway with her ability to get the ball to her teammates in positions where they could score.

“Alexus will gives us great poise and ball control at the point,” commented Clark. “She is extremely intense and competitive and will set a defensive tone for us.”

Another Pepsi Best of the Preps athlete, the 6’2″ power forward Stevenson also earned district honors being named to the All-District 15AA team with her ability to run the floor, as well as, be a force inside and on the glass.

“Shyanne is a gifted lefty,” Clark said.  “She will gives us a dual threat of a mid-range shooter and powerful presence on the offensive boards.  Her upside potential is tremendous.”
