The No. 10 ranked Barton Community College softball team had two solid pitching performances last week, with Holly Posegate gaining the slight edge as the sophomore earned her first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Softball Pitcher of the Week honor.   Earning her second pitching award in her career, coincidentally also coming in week eleven of each season, Posegate adds the honor to her two player of the week awards giving the Lady Cougars thirteen total awards this season.  Teaming with fellow pitcher Madison Didion, the duo helped sweep third place Colby Community College in its only game last week limiting the Trojans to five total hits in the doubleheader.

In game two of the pivotal conference matchup, Posegate shut down the Trojans with a three-hitter preserving the Barton’s 3-0 win in Colby.   Sending the Trojans down in order the first two innings and four of her seven innings of work, the Loveland, Colorado, sophomore struck out three without surrendering a walk improving to 20-2 on the season.

Didion, who was as masterful, also shut down the Trojans to only two hits in striking out two and walking two in the 2-0 first game victory.  The win improved the Washington freshman’s campaign to 23-2 ranking in the top ten in strikeouts while carrying a thirteenth best 1.59 ERA.

Now 44-4 on the season, the Lady Cougars sit firmly in second place at 15-3 concluding the regular season with three additional conference road trips including an April 23 date at 19-1 first place No. 6 ranked Butler Community College.
