For the second time in as many weeks, Renan Sousa of the Barton Community College men’s soccer team has been named the KJCCC Player of the Week.

Following a historic weekend which earned him the honor previously, Sousa had another solid week helping Barton in two wins to remain undefeated at 6-0 on the season.  Sousa began the week with a six point two-goal two-assist victory over NOC-Tonkawa getting either the key assist or goal including the game winner in the 7-3 victory.   Launching only one shot on frame this past Saturday at Cowley, Sousa was instrumental in the key road victory distributing the game winning assist followed by two more assists in the 5-1 win.  In five of the Cougars six games thus far, Sousa has recorded either a multi- assist or goal performance with three hat tricks.

Barton, now 6-1-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in conference play, will have until next week to stew on Tuesday’s 2-1 loss.  The Cougars originally had a non-conference game scheduled on Friday against the junior varsity squad from Bethany College but has since been cancelled.  Barton’s next action will come on Tuesday at Johnson County Community College with the Lady Cougars kicking off at 2:00 p.m. followed by the men’s game at approximately 4:00 p.m.
