The Swedes women’s golf team has announced the addition of two new members for the 2017-18 school year. Shianne Miller, El Dorado; and Joie Francis-Ramirez, Topeka.

Miller hails from Circle High School in Towanda where she has played golf for four years. She was also an ambassador for Butler Co. Saddle Club for four years as well as being named Our Diamond Miss Kansas Cover Girl in 2014. Miller also was a model in 2014 as part of some charity work.

Miller is the daughter of Bruce and Martha Miller, she had a 3.09 GPA and has plans to study forensic science here as a Swede.

“I am very excited about the signing of Shianne Miller with Bethany College,” head coach Dalton Stevens said. “Shianne has a lot of raw talent that we look for her to grow here. She is very community service oriented and enjoys giving back which is why she will represent everything that Bethany stands for in our core values. She also has been taught by some great coaches over the years.”

Francis-Ramirez comes to Bethany from Topeka where she attended Topeka High School. Here she played golf for four years and was a defender on the soccer team for three years. In addition to earning letters in golf and soccer she was on the high honor roll, as well as a member of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honors Society.

Francis-Ramirez is the daughter of Brenda Francis and Thomas Ramirez. She currently maintains a 3.70 grade point average and plans to major in Biochemistry at Bethany.

Coach Stevens says he is very excited about Francis-Ramirez’s commitment for the fall of 2017. “She is a very talented student-athlete that will be a great representative of Bethany College. We look for her to come in and make an immediate impact on our women’s program. Joie is very motivated and competitive which will help her thrive in our conference. I am very excited to see her grow at Bethany,” he said.
