Pratt Community College athlete Rebecca Borger’s national qualifying javelin throw was good enough for fifth place at the Region VI Championships. She’ll be joined at the national meet by the women’s 4×800 relay team.

The relay team of Elisabeth Richins, Krystal Rivera, Divina Flores, and Cyra Fenceroy broke the 28-year old school record. It marks the fourth record Richins has broken during her first year at Pratt.

Rounding out the scoring for the Beavers was Krystal Rivera’s sixth place finish in the 800.

Two men managed to put forth efforts worthy of placing. Payton Miller set a new personal best height in the pole vault while finishing in eighth place. The heat and wind prevented any fast times in the 5000 meter run, but Fred Vega ran his way to an eighth place finish for Pratt.

The national meet will be held May 14-16 at Hutchinson Community College. The women’s 4×800 is slated to begin at noon on Friday May 15, and the women’s javelin is scheduled for Saturday morning.
