Hillsboro, Kan. – It has been one month and a day since McPherson College men’s soccer last suffered defeat.  Since then, they’ve gone 5-0-2 and sit tied atop the KCAC at 5-0-1 with just three matches to play.  The latest Bulldog victim was Tabor College who lost to Mac 2-0 in Hillsboro on Wednesday night.

“We played some of the best soccer we have played all year long in the first half,” said Coach Quint.  “They took everything from the training pitch and put it into the game tonight.  That first goal we scored was beautiful; three consecutive one touch passes with a one touch finish, it was a lot of fun to watch. The second half we got out of character for a bit and I must give credit to Tabor for that. It was a solid performance all around though and that second goal was an amazing strike by Ndongo.”

MC got it going early as they scored just 19 seconds into the match when Kevin Ndongo hit Alex Ronneburg for the first goal of the night; it’s not the quickest goal in McPherson history as that belongs to John White who got one in 13 seconds after kickoff in 2003.  The Bulldogs continued to bombard the TC goal as they took 12 shots in the opening period; they were only able to put two on frame and went into half up 1-0.  In the second, things leveled out and it was a more balanced match.  Things got a bit chippy as both teams recorded numerous fouls in the final 45.  Mac scored in the 69th minute as Kevin Aka found Ndongo to give the ‘Dogs the 2-0 victory.

MC tallied 16 shots for the night; Ndongo took a team-high four shots but had just the one on frame.  Ronneburg, Nick Torres, and Oscar Cortez each had three attempts at goal with all of Ronneburg’s making it between the pipes.

McPherson’s freshman goalie Tanner Horton recorded the shutout as he logged six saves in his 90 minutes of action in the box.

October 25th is when the MC will play again; the ‘Dogs stay on the road as they travel to Sterling College for a 3:00 p.m. (CT) match with the Warriors.
