Wichita State men’s basketball coach, Gregg Marshall and a large cast of Wichita area celebrities are teaming up this holiday season to support local children and their families through The Salvation Army Celebrity Kettle Challenge.
Every year, nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army in the form of meals, shelter, after-school programs, job referrals, youth shelter intervention programs, rehabilitation services, spiritual support and much more.

Shocker fans are invited to lend a helping hand. Marshall’s team of celebrities will ring bells outside of Charles Koch Arena, prior to the Shockers’ Wednesday, Dec. 9 game against UNLV, and will be accepting donations.

Contributions to Team Marshall are also welcomed online at www.onlineredkettle.org/GreggMarshall.

Those who place money in a Salvation Army kettle can expect change. These gifts enable local Salvation Army programs and services to continue providing help and hope. Proceeds from last year’s challenge serve over 10,000 area children at Christmas time.

Marshall, the team chair, is joined by Rene Steven (Spangles Restaurants), Ron Cornejo (Cornejo Companies), Phil Nightingale (Mel Hambelton Ford), Shawn Lancelot (Bank of America), Chase Koch (Koch Industries), Roger Scholfield, (Scholfield Honda), Jeff Johnson(Flinthills National), Sue Schlapp (Kansas Commerce), Bill Gardner (Gardner Designs), Emily Gagnon (KSN-TV), Susan Peters (KAKE-TV) andSteve Lombardo (Koch Industries).
