I remember: THINK on these things!

Our world is changing fast, isn’t it? Where truth used to be easy to decipher, it gets harder each year, each month and even each day. It is easy to see the reason for this…many people do not even read the Bible, let alone live by it. God is only talked to in extreme emergencies when help is needed…right now. They have not asked Him into their heart and life to guide them. Many people of today do not want to be told what to do in any way. even if it means going to hell for eternity. They say they “just want to be happy!”

Looking back through the years of living, I am stonished at myself for all the things I once thought would bring me happiness!  I finally realize in my “more advanced” state of mind that happiness doesn’t come from the things I once thought, like being rich or famous. Those things are com- pletely irrelevant to one’s sense of well-being.

When we live close to the Lord, He gives us many awe-inspiring moments.,,chatting with a Christian friend and realizing how much you enjoy their company because of your like belief in God. It’s being able to talk to people at the Farmer’s Market and realize there are still people in the country who love and follow God, appreciate the freedom to worship him we still have in our country, and realize the importance of following God’s precepts that we find in the Bible.

It is also observing the faces of the little children that come by at the market, taking note in their little minds as to what is going on and trying to understand. Would that they would be able to see the right things and observe grown-ups with a good attitude! Having taught children about God in my younger years, I am so aware of how teachable they are and how they take the truth of God’s Word so literally!

What a joy it is to start out the day with a visit with God and then get everything done you set out to do, no matter what field it is in. Sometimes a little envy creeps in when I see how much a younger person can accomplish and my own energy level doesn’t stretch that far anymore. It is then I remember how I once had it too, and probably wasted it on trivial things.

Hubby and I have enjoyed a lot of things in our life and it is so much fun to relive some of the memories. Our grandsons little remarks when they were growing up… “If you get to heaven before I do, will you wait for me at the gate for when I get there!” Even the recent memory of my sister Carol Jean asking me if “I could guarantee she was going to heaven.” I could point to the Bible that tells us “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” She had and I know that’s where she is now.

The special people God sends along our way to encourage us! It seems we can’t eat at my favorite Cracker Barrel Restaurant without someone always paying for our check from unexpected places. The conversation we had with one of the workers at the Chick Fil-A in Wichita and other places. The smiling face of the lady who made our reservations at the hotel last week where we went for a rest. The reason for her smile? She always tells us “because I’ve got Jesus!”

Do things really need to be perfect in order for us to be happy? Absolutely not! We just need to have our Creator God leading us along the way. If we accept Him into our life and follow Him, we can not only KNOW we are gong to heaven but we can even enjoy the rest of our life here on earth. Go to the Bible and turn to Philippians 4, verse 8 and “THINK on these things!”
