Kansas State Horse Show Circuit Year-end Award Winners

Top riders for the past year were recognized at the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit (KSHSC) awards banquet in Tonganoxie.

Points were accumulated from placings of the total tabulations for 22 judges at the 11 double-judged shows during the 2016 show season.

Destiny Mestagh was the big winner of the year and the evening taking home the trophy saddle for earning 1,000 points with Executive Playboy.

Champion Horse and Highpoint Horse distinctions also went to Executive Playboy, while Destiny was recognized as the highpoint 19-and-over rider for the year.

Jenna Milford was the highpoint 18-and-under rider, and Emma Myers accepted the highpoint race horse award for Meisha.

Hannah Spriggs received a specially designed embossed jacket for owning and showing Shes Impressive So far to be the highpoint halter horse of the year.

In a special saddle drawing, Harper Melton won a new performance saddle, and Mable Mestagh received a new racing saddle.

Officers for the coming year are Katherine Shade, president; Bonnie Kern, vice president; Erica Livingston, secretary-treasurer; Destiny Mestagh, recording secretary; and Kristie Keefer, publicity director.

“KSHSC is a family-oriented horseshow circuit with members of all talent levels and horses of all breeds,” Shade said.

“Membership and horseshow class fees are kept affordable so the ‘weekend show person’ can afford their ‘addiction,’” Shade added.

Membership in KSHSC is not required for participation in the shows, but points are tallied for KSHSC members, and yearend awards are given.

“We strive to maintain an encouraging friendly atmosphere and welcome new members to become part of our horse show family,” Shade invited.

Kickoff for the 2017 KSHSC show season is set April 9, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Lawrence.
