The Peace Treaty Indian Summer Days festival is scheduled for September 23, 24 and 25, 2016.  In addition to the myriad community activities, it’s the next opportunity to experience several signature Peace Treaty events.

Attend the Peace Treaty Powwow, held in the pavilion at the Medicine Lodge city park.  Spectators have the opportunity to glance into the history of Native Americans, a glimpse of centuries-old tradition and a chance to gaze upon the beauty of their regalia while listening to the rhythmic beat of their drums and voices lifted in song.  Food vendors will be on-site with the always popular Indian tacos and fry bread.  A wide selection of Native items including jewelry, wooden crafts, rugs, and Native items for children will be available.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the experience.

Don’t miss the annual Kansas Championship Ranch Rodeo, featuring working cowboys competing in events much like the day work on their ranches.  The Cowboy Trappings and Trade Show and the Ranch Horse Show will make the event unforgettable.

Experience a taste of history at the Stockade Museum, as you enjoy a bean feed and special appearance by the Medicine Lodge historical night show featuring gun-slinging cowboys, bank robbers, can-can dancers, and hatchet-wielding Carry Nation.

The red bricks of Main Street will be busy on Saturday with a parade, kids’ activities, a craft fair, food vendors, and unique shops.  The night show will be performed just before Freddy Fox and the Hot Rods kick off the street dance.
