“OUR LACK OF FORGIVENESS MAKES US

HATE, AND OUR LACK OF COMPASSION

MAKES US HARD HEARTED. PRIDE IN

OUR HEARTS MAKES US RESENTFUL AND

KEEPS OUR MEMORY IN A CONSTANT WHIRLWIND

OF PASSION AND SELF PITY.

Mother Angelica

The news last year was about allegations of abuse within the Pittsburgh PA. Diocese being investigated by the State Attorney General. The news that continues to pour out about alleged abuse has been front and center ever since. Our headline recently is now that the Kansas is now investigating allegations in the Kansas Catholic Diocese’s

Since most of the allegations go back over 50 years it is still a serious accusation and if true, a horrendous crime. What is bothersome for me is that at the same time the same abuses were found in the Baptist Church, Public Schools, and other churches and institutions in the same state and time frame. Yet these findings were not put on the front page and has not continued to be talked about by the media.

Now the Federal Prosecutors have arrested a major child molester figure, that we have been hearing about for years. He was talked about for years but not touched because of all the prominent figures he was involved with on his flights to his private island (one a former president).

We know that child and sex trafficking is going on at the border and it is not even a concern for our House of Representatives. Our priorities are jaded beyond belief.

With all of the cries of racism that is going on when it is politically convenient, there is one that is not talked about.  The Anti Catholic Bias that seems to pervade the culture. It seems to be a given that media, especially social media, delights when any thing can be said to attack or just spread bias about the Catholic Church.

I very seldom ever get into religion except where most subjects are a universal item. Like the fact that our country was founded by Judaeo-Christian values and the foundation of our law is the Ten Commandments. It is also recognized by many that when our fundamental principles are taken out of anything that it is soon replaced by evil.

I am as disturbed about the things that are happening within the church as anyone. But I am more disturbed that so called believers take such delight with the problems that the institution is fighting right now.

All human institutions are flawed because all humans are flawed. But can you take delight in the flaws of another while supporting the general principles of the organization. And why is the flaws in all other institutions not reported on with such zeal? Can you really be so hateful to take pleasure in the flaws of others?

The words of Arch Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. “There are 3 things you will be most surprised of when you get to Heaven. One, who made it. Two who did not make it. And that you made it.”
