You know that Marci Penner and the folks at the Kansas Sampler Foundation are always working on the health of the rural economy and working for the future. They have a long list of success stories and they have not given up yet.
Every other year they sponsor the WE KAN conference at Newton. Here people from all over Kansas gather with their problems, ideas, and solutions. They come to learn from each other and be inspired by each other.
Slots are filling up fast but for $75 you get a day of positive energy that you can take back to your communities and put to work. I have not been able to attend for a while but the seed for my books on Kansas History came from this gathering as well as the other seminars that they sponsor.
