Rural Opportunity

By Roger Ringer

ANY WASTE STREAM IN OUR SOCIETY

CAN BE TURNED INTO A REVENUE STREAM.

IT’S TURNING THE LEMONS IN OUR SOCIETY

INTO LEMONADE.

Billy Parish

So what has been the talk ever since the personal computer was manufactured for the masses? The speed and capabilities of the new world of electronics was supposed to bring the ability for working from office to home.

What have we been ringing our hands over for decades now in the small town rural societies? Loss of population and our youth leaving after graduation. The revenues that allow our rural areas to survive have been going down drastically.

Now what are we looking at? A pandemic that has shut down the economy, what is happening? People are working from home.

WELL DUH!

Now the ‘intelligent’ people are discovering that it is cost efficient as well as effective to have a big part of the workforce not traveling to a huge building everyday.

The employees (if they have a work ethic) get more done, are less distracted, and more creative at home rather than hanging around the water fountain gossiping. They are able to work when most creative. Look at the savings from sexual harassment suits and office romances. They can take care of the kids.

Look at the drop in usage of energy. If a town or rural area has good internet, what is the down side?

The youth once they leave and get thrown into debt by spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for their University education, plus once they get over partying and start raising that family, want to come home.

As I look out of my window I see cows and not demonstrators. I can look out of my window without fear of being shot by a gang banger. I can go in town and visit with the sheriff or chief of police in a friendly conversation. I can talk to a commissioner or council member about anything.

I have never seen the advantage of being cooped up in a ridiculously small, and expensive apartment where you can hear your neighbors conversation (or fight).

If space were to permit I could tell you about cottage craftsmen who work for large companies all over the world. Yet we want to send manufacturing off to China where people work for slave wages and when they have an original idea, or want to worship their God, they are ‘disappeared’.

So lets tackle the issues of keeping our small towns and rural industries growing. Lets bring the kids home. Lets educate them and not indoctrinate.

Lets move those companies back and get jobs into the areas where living is safe and sane.
