Abilene Reflector-Chronicle reports that Saturday evening’s Night in Las Vegas was a success, with about 60 people — including Elvis, impersonated by Abilene High School 2015 graduate Erik Hageman.  Another attendee, Abilene Middle School teacher Casey Callis, dressed as a tourist, complete with a Hawaiian-style shirt. Samantha Geissinger, director of the Arts Council of Dickinson County, said she was glad so many people came to support the arts in Abilene and the surrounding towns.

Geissinger hopes to coordinate a bounty of upcoming activities to involve adults and enrich children, including monthly events and long-term projects to beautify the community, such as the new mural at the Abilene Community Center.
“We like to keep things fun, creative and fresh,” she said. Attendees mingled in the midst of artificial diamond decorations, consumed tortellini salad and cherry pie and played blackjack, roulette, craps and poker at the arts council fundraiser, held in the Abilene Civic Center. “I am grateful to all our board members and volunteers for all the hard work they put in to make this event fun and successful,” Geissinger said.
