Hutchinson turns into Clark Kent’s hometown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday

He will don his red, yellow and blue superman attire and read a proclamation at 5:30 p.m. at Chester I. Lewis Plaza. Others can attend festivities starting at 5:30 p.m. at DCI Park and on Main St.

DCI Park will feature a big and small costume contest while Chester I. Lewis Plaza will hold a sculpture walk. Third Thursday events will take part on Main Street as well as a poetry reading at Crow & Co.

Events will kick back up again at 7 a.m. on Saturday with the Smallville 5K & Super Hero 1-Mile event. Food trucks, music and vendors will post themselves around “Smallville.”

Booths will include the Kitchen Hero Society, Circles of Hope and Hutchinson Salthawk Football Ultimate Tailgate. Businesses will hand out water, superhero capes and goodies to children. There will be a ComicCon, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and slackline activities starting at 10 a.m.

A pub crawl starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday. This crawl includes Salt City Brewing and Sand Hills Brewing (these locations are subject to change). Along with an evening costume contest, Smallville townspeople can pay to attend the Dirty Dozen Brass Band event at 7 p.m. at the Historic Fox Theatre.
