Stage 9 will be holding auditions for the fourth production of its 2016 Season, Nunsense, the musical! a musical comedy by Dan Goggin.  Auditions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 9th and 10th from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Stage 9, located at 9 S. Main in Hutchinson’s downtown business district.

Nunsense follows the antics of the Little Sisters of Hoboken. The Sisters have had a run of bad luck. After being pushed out of their missionary work assisting lepers in France, 52 sisters succumbed to botulism after eating vichyssoise soup prepared by Sister Julia, Child of God. A greeting card fundraiser ended just short of the finish line and now the sisters must raise the money that is required to bury the remaining four sisters, who are currently on ice.

Stage 9 will be auditioning for the following roles:

SISTER MARY REGINA, MOTHER SUPERIOR: Female, 60’s (Range: B3-F5)
A feisty overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can’t resist the spotlight.

SISTER MARY HUBERT, MISTRESS OF NOVICES: Female, mid-50’s (Range: G3-F5)
The second in command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior.

SISTER ROBERT ANNE: Female, mid-30’s (Range:G3-D5)
A streetwise taught character from Brooklyn who is a constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.

SISTER MARY AMNESIA: Female, late-30’s (Range: Db4-C6)
This sweet nun has lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head.

SISTER MARY LEO: Female, early/mid-30’s (Range: G#3-G5)
The novice who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina.

Auditions will consist of a dance/movement sequence, readings from the script, harmony and vocal range evaluation and either a prepared song or sighting reading of a song to be taught at auditions. If actors choose to perform a prepared selection, please bring either an accompanist or CD. A brief selection from another musical has been selected for attendees who do not bring a prepared piece.  Interested actors who cannot attend the auditions on July 9th or 10th, please contact Director Charles Johnston for alternate arrangements.
