Hutchinson: College Livestock Judging Team was named the Reserve Champion at National Western Stock Show

The Hutchinson Community College Livestock Judging Team was named the Reserve Champion Team in the Carload Contest at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO.

In this event, the students evaluated 96 head of cattle, spread out over 6 classes.  They ranked the livestock based on quality and uniformity and answered questions related to conformation, potential carcass value and industry profitability.  Twenty-three teams competed in the event from across the country.

The Blue Dragons were represented by team members Taylor Ohlde (Winchester, KS), Jonah Biensch (Lloydminster, Saskatchewan), Greg Schlickau (Pretty Prairie, KS), Madison Butler (Vincennes, IN), Hannah Moyer (Lamar, MO) and Bailee Porter (Norfolk, NE).

The HCC agricultural team is coached by instructor of agriculture and Livestock Judging coach Ben Williams.
