New spring break activities are planned for March 12 through the 26th at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.
In addition to the normal daily offerings and attractions available, visitors to the Cosmosphere will find a broad range of activities to bring an extra level of excitement to spring break this year. Following is the schedule of events
March 12
Smithsonian Museum Day Live! Free admission all day for those with a free ticket from smithsonianmag.com
1:30 P.M. Girl Power! Cosmosphere’s Vice President of Education, Tracey Tomme, will lead a hands-on STEM activity just for girls.
March 12, 14—19 & 21—26
10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Innovator’s Workshop Activities for children age three to 12 in the lobby.
March 14—19
10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Ride the Multi Axis Trainer used in astronaut training. $2 ticket required. Height, age and weight restrictions apply.
March 17
St. Patrick’s Day Fun!
- Wear Green and receive special treatment:
- Free rides on the Multi Axis Trainer
- 17 percent discount on tickets to Our Universe Theaters—Dr. Goddard’s Lab and the Planetarium

Cosmosphere Spring Break—St. Patrick’s Day Cont’
- Watch for sightings of the Leprechaun Panda—and learn more about the life of real giant pandas at a showing of the documentary Pandas: The Journey Home in the Carey Digital Dome Theater.
- Take a sneak peek behind the scenes to learn more about Cosmosphere Camps with a guided tour anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Throughout the day, lucky visitors will be surprised with the chance to sample green ice cream created with liquid oxygen.
March 18, 19 & 20th
Rock Climbing Wall
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, visitors can purchase a $2 ticket to try their hand at rock climbing and then watch real rock climbers put their skills to the test in the documentary film National Parks, with daily shows in the Cosmosphere Carey Digital Dome Theater.
March 19th

The Cosmosphere International SciEd Center & Space Museum is located at 1100 North Plum in Hutchinson, KS. Its collection includes U.S. space artifacts second only to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, and the largest collection of Russian space artifacts outside of Moscow. This unique collection allows the Cosmosphere to tell the story of the Space Race better than any museum in the world while offering fully immersive education experiences that meet the Next Generation Science Standards and introduce students to the power of wondering—asking the critical questions that lead to discovery. The Cosmosphere also features the Carey Digital Dome Theater offering documentary showings daily and recently-released feature films on weekends; a newly renovated Planetarium and Dr. Goddard’s Lab, where visitors experience live science demonstrations daily.
