HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING SEP 5th

Hay market trade slow to moderate, with more hay moving this past week. Alfalfa prices firmed up a bit for southwest and south-central region grinding hay and alfalfa ground and delivered, while grass prices remained steady. It felt like a blast furnace over the Labor Day weekend with temperatures in the high 90’s and winds gusting up to 30 mph. What little moisture was left in the soil was surely sucked out over the weekend. Relief is on its way, however, with much cooler temperatures and the possibility of SWEET RAIN. According to the US Drought Monitor, drier and warmer than normal conditions are taking their toll especially for parts of southwestern Kansas, where they continue to endure severe to extreme drought conditions. Abnormal dryness (D0) increased to 22 pct, moderate drought (D1) decreased to 11 pct, severe drought (D2) decreased to 3.5 pct, and extreme drought (D3) increased to just over .65 pct. If you have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the services of the Internet Hay Exchange:www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
