2020 Events Calendar

Every Saturday Through October 31st

McPherson County Farmer’s Market- Every Saturday morning through October 31st from 7:30 a.m.-12 noon. The market will take place in the Blue Roundtop, 710 W. Woodside. Eggs, flowers, produce, baked goods, meat, and more!

Every Sunday in October

Bingo at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. The Early Bird Session start at 2:30 p.m. Regular Games begin at 3:15 p.m.

Now Through Saturday, October 31st

First Annual Fossil 5K Virtual Run– hosted by the McPherson Museum. Registration fee: $35 per person. Participants will receive a one-of-a kind medal and T-shirt. Run or walk

5K, take a picture or screenshot of your miles ran and time, then send it to the McPherson Museum. The two fastest times will receive a free annual family membership!! For more information go to www.mcphersonmuseum.com/fundraisers or call (620) 241-8464

Thursday, October 22nd

YP MAC October Mingle- 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Hosted by Hometown Outdoor Power, 610 W. Kansas Ave. Grab a friend and join YP MAC. Network and socialize with other young professionals from McPherson County in a relaxed and friendly environment at this come and go event.

Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th

23rd Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival- 7 p.m. each night at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Film lovers around the world will view and vote on the nine finalists’ films, which will screen simultaneously across the world during a one-month period. The Best Film and Best Actor awards will be determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue. Tickets can be purchased on the McPherson Opera House website at mcphersonoperahouse.org. Masks are required.

Haunted House- 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Located next door to the McPherson Museum, 1111 E.

Kansas. Advanced tickets: $13. Tickets at the door: $15.

Saturday, October 24th

DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back– 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Law Enforcement

Center, 1177 W. Woodside. Hosted by the McPherson Police Department and County Sheriff’s Office. Visit the McPherson KS Police Department Facebook page for specifics concerning what can and cannot be taken during the Take-Back Event.

Transplant Benefit for Amy Pike- 4:30 p.m. at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N.

Main. Dinner, live band, auction, and more!

Annual Mission Supper– 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, 43 13th

Ave. in Inman. CARRY OUT MEAL ONLY. The meal will feature their traditional menu of German sausage, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed peas, zwieback, applesauce and pie. To order meals call or text 620-543-6863 or 620-242-2357 by October 18th. Free will offering.

Sunday, October 25th

1st Annual MAC BBQ Showdown- at 1010 S. Clark, presented by Easy Bar & Grill. Live music starts at 12 p.m. Food & outdoor games at 1 p.m. Awards Ceremony at 2:30 p.m. For competition entry or more information email [email protected] or visit the MAC BBQ Showdown Facebook event. Free will donation to enjoy competition BBQ. All proceeds will be donated to McPherson Angel Tree.

Thursday, October 29th

Trick or Treat Main Street- 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. in Downtown McPherson. Trick or Treat with McPherson merchants up and down Main Street. Merchants will wear masks and gloves and have wrapped treats for the children until candy runs out! Safety measures will be adhered to. Attendees need to wear face masks and practice social distancing.

Friday, October 30th

Trick or Treat Street Event- 4 p.m.-5 p.m. in Downtown Moundridge. Hosted by the Moundridge Chamber of Commerce. Children participating need to bring their own bag to collect the treats in.

Saturday, October 31st

Trunk or Treat- 6 p.m. at Lakeside Park, 500 W. Lakeside Drive. A family friendly, safe, fun event for all! Bring your children of all ages to see some cool cars decorated for Halloween and get some candy! Cars need to be registered to participate. For more information and updates go to the Trunk or Treat – Lakeside Park, McPherson Facebook event. The Fantastic Fair – World’s Greatest VBS Party- 11 a.m-1 p.m. at Harmony Christian Church, 1713 Mohawk Road. Games, food, prizes! Get ready to have a GREAT time!

4th Annual Trunk or Treat- 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Zoar MB Church, 400 S. Walnut in Inman.

An easy one-stop location! Trunk or treating will be set up in the main parking lot on the East side of the church. Lots candy and free hot chocolate to help you warm up! As a special treat, the Inman Fire Department will also be there!

Friday, October 30th and Saturday October 31st

Haunted House- 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Located next door to the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas. Advanced tickets: $13. Tickets at the door: $15.

Sunday, November 1st – Thursday, December 31st

Candy Cane Cash! Shop local to check off your Christmas lists and get registered to win! Shop at participating stores November 1st through December 31st, 2020 and earn points to enter for the Candy Cane Cash. You could win a $1,000 OR $500 in Candy Cane Cash just for shopping locally! A McPherson Chamber of Commerce & McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Thursday, November 5th

Growth and Development Screening- 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. in McPherson. Birth to age 5. Due to COVID-19, screening might be cancelled and/or change depending on state recommendations. Call the Early Childhood Office for an appointment, 620-241-9590. Snowball Drop- 5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin. Catch a numbered “snowball” and let the shopping begin! Snowball Drop will be inside the Community Building, for kids and adults. Santa will do a special kiddie toss. Adult toss prizes include coupons, gift cards, and merchandise to encourage shopping locally. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Friday, November 6th – Sunday, November 8th

Holiday Open House Weekend- Start checking those lists for who’s naughty or nice and get an early start on your Christmas shopping. Sample treats and see what’s new this year at citywide locations. Individual store hours. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Saturday, November 7th

Cowboy Christmas Shopping Event- 9 a.m-3 p.m. at the McPherson County 4-H Building, 710 W. Woodside. Free admission! Jewelry, holiday items, home décor, western art, clothing, and more! Get a head start on your Christmas shopping list and shop ‘til you drop!

Wednesday, November 11th

Veteran’s Day Celebration- Free breakfast 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main, for veterans and guest sponsored by Kindred Hospice. Ceremony at the Park Department Building at 11 a.m. Keynote speaker is Bobby Cox. The McPherson Radio Station will broadcast the ceremony live.

Saturday, November 14th

Cowboy Chili Cook-Off- 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas.

Events include chili cook-off, a costume contest, saloon bar, an exhibit of classic & restored

Ford Model T’s, and more! Registration forms for the Chili Cook-Off are available on the Museum website at www.mcphersonmuseum.com/events or at the Museum. Only 15 entries for Chili Cook-Off. Deadline to register is by November 6th. For more information call 620-241-8464.

Wednesday, November 18th

Buffalo Auction– 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Auction will start at 11 a.m. Call KDWPT for further information – 620-628-4592.

Thursday, November 19th

Girl’s Night Out- 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Earn TRIPLE Candy Cane Cash points as you shop tonight and make out your wish list. Citywide locations, refreshments, drawings, and more! Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Virtual Philanthropist of the Year Event- hosted by the McPherson County Community Foundation. More information regarding the event to follow.

Christmas Open House- in Downtown Moundridge. Special retail shopping events; drawings for prizes; a Christmas Lighting Ceremony; and much more!

Thursday, November 26th

25th Annual McPherson Community Thanksgiving Dinner- CURBSIDE PICKUP ONLY. A slightly modified menu to accommodate 100% “carryout” meals. Volunteers needed for: food prep, serving line for preparing carryout meals, “runners” to deliver packaged meals to vehicles, and help with traffic control.
