2020 Events Calendar

Every Saturday Through October 31st

McPherson County Farmer’s Market- Every Saturday morning through October 31st from 7:30 a.m.-12 noon. The market will take place in the Blue Roundtop, 710 W. Woodside. Eggs, flowers, produce, baked goods, meat, and more!

Saturday, September 5th

Wildflowers Photography Tour– at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Event is pending due to COVIID-19 guidelines. For information regarding status of event call 620-628-4455.

Stage Drive “Artist Showcase”– 7 p.m. An online fundraiser watch party hosted by Arts After School. Enjoy music by the Arts After School kids and the band Atlas. You can also be a part of the raffle, with the grand prize being a grill package! All proceeds will benefit the Arts After School program. Wednesday, September 16th

59th Annual Church BBQ- 5 p.m.7 p.m. at the Marquette United Methodist Church, 404 W. 2nd Street in Marquette. Enjoy pit-roasted beef, real mashed potatoes, gravy, baked beans, fresh garden salad, homemade rye bread, apple & cherry pie! Carry out & curbside only. Free will donation. 785-546-2337.

Thursday, September 17th

Family Night- 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. Takeout orders are available and can be picked up at the building’s back entrance. Proceeds to benefit MCDS. Come get a hamburger, fries, drink, and dessert for the low price of $5.

Saturday, September 19th

3rd Annual Cattyshack Golf Tournament- 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Turkey Creek Golf Course, 1000 Fox Run Road. Hosted by McPherson County Humane Society. 4-person scramble. $50 entry fee per player includes lunch and one raffle ticket! Player registration is online at [email protected]. For more information go to the McPherson County Humane Society Facebook page. All proceeds benefit the McPherson County Humane Society.

Sunday, September 20th

Fall Trail Ride- 10 a.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Bring your horse and ride the 2800-acre prairie. You’ll catch glimpses of Bison, other wildlife, and fall native wildflowers. Ride starts promptly at 10 a.m. then lunch break and back out for the afternoon. Cost for full day & meal: $35 each, ½ day with meal: $25 each.

Friday, September 25th

McPherson Chamber of Commerce Classic: “Par-Tee On” Golf Tournament– at Turkey Creek Golf Course, 1000 Fox Run. Registration/Lunch will start at 11:30 a.m. Tee off at 12:30 p.m. For information contact the McPherson Chamber of Commerce at 241-3303 or  www.mcphersonchamber.org.

Saturday, September 26th

Santa Fe Days and Car Show- in downtown Inman. Car Show Registration available from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. the day of the show. Trophies at 3 p.m. Other Santa Fe Days events include a Fun Run, Basket Auction, Fishing Derby at 3 p.m., Kid’s Games, Tractor Pull, and live music by Saltcity Cowboy Church Band.

16th Annual Thunder on the Smoky Motorcycle Rally– in Marquette. Go to the Kansas Motorcycle Museum website or the Thunder on the Smoky Motorcycle Rally Facebook page for updates on times and events.

Mike Zito Concert- 7 p.m.-10 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Blues rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter Mike Zito will be performing live at the Opera House.

Monday, September 28th

TED Circle Program: Chronic Illness Conversation- 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. via zoom. Facilitated by the McPherson Public Library. Ideal session for individuals who live with chronic illness, caregivers who support loved ones, or anyone interested in learning more about how to care and support those affected. Tuesday, September 29th 

Taco Tuesday- at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 N. Elm. Fundraiser hosted by Mt. Hope Sanctuary. The Taco Truck will be open for two serving times: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. / 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Or you can pre-order online at www.mthopesanctuary.org for quicker carryout or delivery. Catered by Knackies. Free will donation. All proceeds go directly to support Mt.

Hope Sanctuary women and children.

The Lettermen- 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Tickets available on the Opera House website at www.mcphersonoperahouse.org or call the box office at 620-241-1952. Sunday, October 11th

Falun Classic Bike Ride- 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Hosted by the McPherson Amateur Radio Club. The ride will start and end at Swensson Park, 400 block of North Main in Lindsborg.

Saturday, October 17th

2nd Annual Teuton 5K Run/Walk & 2-Mile Color Dash- at 101 N. Main in Inman. Registration is at 7 a.m. Race will start at 8 a.m. Hosted by the Inman Elementary PTO. Strollers & wagons are welcome! First Annual Painting with Hope Fundraiser- 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at the McPherson Opera

House, 219 S. Main. Create a fun canvas artwork to take home. Event will be limited to 20 people. Precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of those participating. For more information or to register go to the Mt. Hope Sanctuary website. Proceeds will benefit Mt.

Hope Sanctuary.

Autumn in the Valley 2020- The celebration will be in Downtown Marquette. Hosted by the Marquette Chamber of Commerce.

Trick or Treat Main Street- 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. (or until candy runs out!) In Downtown McPherson. Trick or Treat with McPherson merchants up and down Main Street.

Friday, October 30th

Sunday, November 1st – Thursday, December 31st

Candy Cane Cash! Shop local to check off your Christmas lists and get registered to win! Shop at participating stores November 1st through December 31st, 2020 and earn points to enter for the Candy Cane Cash. You could win a $1,000 OR $500 in Candy Cane Cash just for shopping locally! Thursday, November 5th

Snowball Drop- 5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin. Catch a numbered “snowball” and let the shopping begin! Snowball Drop will be inside the Community Building, for kids and adults. Santa will do a special kiddie toss. Adult toss prizes include coupons, gift cards, and merchandise to encourage shopping locally. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Friday, November 6th – Sunday, November 8th

Holiday Open House Weekend- Start checking those lists for who’s naughty or nice and get an early start on your Christmas shopping. Sample treats and see what’s new this year at citywide locations. Individual store hours. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Thursday, November 19th

Girl’s Night Out- 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Earn TRIPLE Candy Cane Cash points as you shop tonight and make out your wish list. Citywide locations, refreshments, drawings, and more! Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.
