2020 Events Calendar

Now Through – Thursday, December 31st
Candy Cane Cash! Shop local to check off your Christmas lists and get registered to win! Shop at participating stores November 1st through December 31st, 2020 and earn points to enter for the Candy Cane Cash. You could win a $1,000 OR $500 in Candy Cane Cash just for shopping locally! Every Sunday, in November
Bingo at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. The Early Bird Session starts at 2:30 p.m. Regular Games begin at 3:15 p.m.

Wednesday, November 18th
Buffalo Auction- 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Auction will start at 11 a.m. Call KDWPT for further information – 620-628-4592. Snowball Drive-By- 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas.
It’s a Snowball Drive-By! We have prizes to give away from the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street members. Santa will be helping us distribute the goodies! Please enter through the WEST parking lot entrance.

Thursday, November 19th
Girl’s Night Out- 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Earn TRIPLE Candy Cane Cash points as you shop tonight and make out your wish list. Citywide locations, refreshments, drawings, and more! Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.
Family Night- 5 p.m. at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. Proceeds from Family Night will benefit the Optimist Club. Come get a hamburger, fries, drink, and dessert for the low price of $5!

Philanthropist of the Year Event- 7 p.m. This VIRTUAL event is hosted by the McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF). For updated information visit the MCCF website or Facebook page.

Thursday, November 19th – Saturday, November 22nd
Every Brilliant Thing- at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main, presented by the McPherson Community Theatre. A one-person show about depression and the lengths we go to for those we love. Showtimes on November 19th-21st are at 7 p.m. On November 22nd showtime will be at 2 p.m. Tickets available on the McPherson Opera house website at https://mcphersonoperahouse.org/event/every-brilliant-thing/ Masks are required.

Friday, November 20th – Tuesday, December 1st
VIRTUAL McPherson Alternative Christmas Gift Market 2020- The Giving Page will be live 8 a.m. November 20th through Giving Tuesday, with online giving made possible via Square. For updates, or to see which McPherson-based charitable organizations are participating, visit the VIRTUAL McPherson Alternative Christmas Gift Market 2020 Facebook event.

Saturday, November 21st
Christmas Open House- in downtown Moundridge. Special retail shopping events, kids’ take-home craft, drawings for prizes. Christmas Tree Lighting at 7 p.m. at the Historical Museum complex, 402 W. Cole, including a food drive to benefit the Moundridge Food Bank. Visit the Moundridge Chamber Facebook page for more information as it becomes available.

Thursday, November 26th
25th Annual McPherson Community Thanksgiving Dinner- 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (or until meals run out) DRIVE THROUGH PICKUP ONLY! Drive thru staging route will begin at the Journey Church, 201 E. Euclid. To pick up meals enter the Journey Church parking lot off Elm Street. Meal drive thru route will proceed south on Ash Street from the Journey Church parking lot to the Community Building, where meals will be delivered to your vehicle. Limit of 5 meals without prior approval. Euclid, Marlin, and Ash Streets will be closed during this time to allow for meal distribution. For more information call 620-747-2760. Shop Small in Mac- Support our local stores as you shop for bargains citywide.
CANCELLED – American Legion Riders Annual Toy Run & Auction. Instead the American Legion will be collecting new, unwrapped toys (no stuffed animals, please) at the following drop off locations: American Legion Post, 401 N. Main and the McPherson Chamber of Commerce, 306 N. Main. The distribution will go to up to 500 children, ages 0-12 years. Deadline for drop off is December 19th. Call 620-242-7715 with questions.
King Midas Dance- 8:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m. at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N.
Main. Come dance off all that Thanksgiving food to the music of King Midas at the Legion!

Monday, November 30th – Friday, December 4th
Free Gingerbread House Kit for Virtual Gingerbread House Contest! – at the McPherson Convention & Visitors Bureau, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. One gingerbread house kit per family. Growth and Development Screening- 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in Lindsborg. Birth to age 5. Due to COVID-19, screening might be cancelled and/or change depending on state recommendations. Call the Early Childhood Office for an appointment, 620-241-9590.

Saturday, December 5th
Canton Holiday Style- 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the McPherson County Fairgrounds in Canton.
Lots of activities including the Christmas Wish Fair at the high school, sleigh rides, visits from Santa, amazing vendors indoor and outdoor, concessions and much more.

Snowflake Parade- 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in Downtown Lindsborg. Don’t just come and watch! Plan to be part of the fun! All snowflakes, Christmas bells, snowmen, reindeer, tomtes, and ugly sweater-wearers are welcome! Parade line up at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Church, 320 N. Main. Holiday Open House & 50/50 Reverse Raffle- 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas. Gift wrapping, activities, crafts, refreshments, and free admission to the museum! Drawing will be held on Facebook Live.

Winter Trail Ride- at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Bring your horse and ride the 2800-acre prairie. See bison, elk, and other wildlife. Ride starts promptly at 10 a.m., lunch break, then back out for the afternoon. Cost for full day & meal: $35 each, ½ day with meal: $25 each. Holiday Lights Trolley Tour- Tickets go on sale November 2nd. Trolley will board and drop off at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each night. Masks are REQUIRED to ride the trolley. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 620-241-8464 and will only be held for 24 hours. Only 12 tickets are available for each tour. Trolley will be cleaned and sanitized after each tour. Hosted by McPherson CVB.

Saturday, December 12th
Cookies with Santa- 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at Awaken Church, 223 S. Main. Part of the McPherson Chamber and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.
Christmas on the Prairie- at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. An old-fashioned Christmas on the prairie, which includes a 45-minute tour in the covered winter tram. After the tour enjoy cocoa or coffee and homemade cookies in the Visitor’s Center. Tour times: 10 a.m. & 11 a.m. Cost: $13 each for adults/ $6.50 each for children.
