The City Council decided to continue the Sewer Plant Upgrade Fee at the current rate which will allow the construction loan to be paid off 10-11 years early. Any extra revenues will be used to offset any potential future sewer rate increases which will freeze the current rates for the next nine to 10 years. It is estimated that the Upgrade fee will save the city approximately $2.3 million in interest. When the loan is paid off the fee will be removed from customers’ bills.
