The Newman University Party on the Plaza scholarship fundraising event has always been successful in the past. Despite a slightly lower number of attendees for the 2015 Party on the Plaza, donors helped set a new net record of $140,000 to go toward the Newman University scholarship fund.

Scholarship fundraising is a critical part of Newman University’s continued success. The scholarship fund makes it possible to attract academic-minded students to the university from all over the world.

Several factors contributed to the success of the fundraiser.

Alumni, local business leaders, university faculty, staff, and even students contributed to the event by purchasing items at the live and silent auctions. Attendees also purchased “Golden Tickets” to win a chance to select a live auction item before the bidding started.

Generous contributions were made by people who donated items for the live and silent auction, including a signed photo of Pope Francis.

Volunteers including Newman University faculty, staff, students, and family members helped make the event run smoothly.
