LAWRENCE — A recent study from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, published in the journal Pain Medicine, suggests that prescriptions of opioids for nonmalignant chronic pain are influenced by non-medical factors such as a patient’s form of insurance, geographic region and patient’s relationship to the provider.
