Hutchinson, KS (August 21, 2017) – Recognizing the impact to those involved in the reduction in workforce announced Friday, August 18th by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping those affected employees find jobs in Reno County.

“We recognize the impact that this will have on those affected employees and their families, and we will do whatever we can to connect the available workforce to the jobs in our communities,’’ said Debra Teufel, President/CEO of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce.

In a coordinated effort, the Chamber is working closely with Siemens Gamesa leadership, Kansas WorkforceONE, and local employers to organize job fairs to help the displaced workers find employment in Reno County. Teufel explains, “There are many excellent employers in Reno County seeking reliable, quality employees to fill vacant positions and we want to assist those connections.”

As more information is available about the jobs fairs, the Chamber will distribute that to local employers as well as the Chamber membership who are interested in serving to find new employment opportunities for the individuals who are being impacted by this layoff.

Area companies are encouraged to contact Abby Stockebrand at the Chamber office at (620) 662-3391 if they would like to be part of a job fair or outreach to the dislocated workers.

The Chamber remains optimistic about Siemens Gamaesa’s long-term impact and presence in Reno County with their recent announcement of pursuing a capital investment at the plant that will involve retooling an existing production line. “Siemens continues to provide quality jobs to many employees in our community and they will continue to have a positive impact in our local economy,” said Teufel.
