Kansas Targets Drunk Drivers Through Labor Day Weekend

The Kansas Department of Transportation will kick off the state’s You drink. You drive. You LOSE. enforcement campaign to stop drunk driving on Kansas roads. More than 150 law enforcement agencies across Kansas are joining forces to pull over all motorists who show signs of impaired driving as part of the national campaign that runs from Aug. 16 through Sept. 4 — Labor Day holiday weekend.

WHO: Wichita Police Officer Paul Cruz; Chris Bortz, KDOT Traffic Safety Program Manager; Wichita Police Department Traffic Unit; and Jarrod Blecha, a Kansas DUI offender

WHAT: In Kansas, nearly ​one-fifth ​of all traffic crash fatalities involve drunk drivers. During the news conference, speakers will share You drink. You drive. You LOSE. enforcement campaign details and drunk driving statistics. In addition, a DUI offender will share his personal experience.
