McPHERSON EXHIBITS

McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. Museum hours: Monday-Friday: 1 p.m.-5 p.m. / Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Don’t miss the McPherson Globe Refiners exhibit documenting the first gold medal basketball team awarded in Olympic history and the Museum’s permanent “hands-on” model train exhibit. 620-241-8464.

McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin, 620-245-2570. Library hours: Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m. / Friday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. / Saturday: 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. / Sunday: 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Currently on display in the Library’s gallery, through December 20th, is the work of Abilene artist Andrea Fuhrman.

One Door North, The Gallery of The Clayworks, 107 N. Main. 620-504-6550 An entrepreneurial creation of Disability Supports of the Great Plains, offering individuals with disabilities the chance to explore their own unique creativity and artistic expression using different media – such as clay, painting, and drawing.

Canton Stars and Stripes Military Museum, 104 W. Allen, in Canton. Exhibits include memorabilia from all military branches. Open for all Military and Patriotic Holidays or by appointment. 620-628-4484

Galva Historical Museum, 204 S. Main, in Galva. Documenting Galva’s history as well as surrounding country schools, displays of past businesses, and information regarding the Cherokee and Santa Fe Trail. Hours: 1st Sunday: 2 p.m.-4 p.m.; 2nd Saturday: 10 a.m.-noon; 3rd Thursday: 7 p.m.-9 p.m., or by appointment. 620-654-3343

Inman Museum, 101 N. Main, in Inman. Sunday 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m., or by appointment. 620-585-6756 or 620-585-6477. The museum has a life-size village square with six buildings constructed with 100-year-old materials, a restored train deport complete with a caboose, and a full early prairie homestead. www.inmanmuseum.com.

Kansas Motorcycle Museum, 120 N. Washington, in Marquette. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.785-546-2449 or www.ksmotorcyclemuseum.org. Three galleries that are home to over 100 vintage and rare motorcycles of various makes and models, motorcycle racing memorabilia, photos, clothing, trophies, and posters.

Birger Sandzén Art Gallery- 401 N. First St., in Lindsborg. 785-227-2220. Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. / Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. To view online work from Sandzén’s early, middle, or later years or to see selections from the gallery’s other collections visit their website at www.sandzen.org

The Cole House, 405 E. Cole St. in Moundridge. Tours are available by calling 620-345-2427. Be sure to also visit the Moundridge Depot Museum, which is also open by appointment only for tours.

Wednesday, November 3rd
Annual Buffalo Auction- 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road, Canton by the Dept. of Wildlife & Parks. Open to the public. Thursday, November 4th
Galva Fish Fry- 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Galva Senior Center, 218 S. Main in Galva.

Snowball Drop- 5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin. Adults can catch a numbered “snowball” and win shopping related prizes like coupons and gift cards to encourage shopping locally. Santa will be present to greet the kiddos. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Thursday, November 4th – Saturday, November 6th
Holiday Open House Weekend- Start checking those lists for who’s naughty or nice and get an early start on your Christmas shopping. Sample treats and see what’s new this year at citywide locations. Individual store hours. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Friday, November 5th
First Friday MC at The Cedars- 3 p.m. at The Cedars Conference Center, 1021 Cedars Drive. The topic that will be discussed by guest speaker Tony Helfrich is “Bulldog Adventures.”

Saturday, November 6th
Goods to Go Craft & Vendor Show and Foodapalooza- 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Inman Community Building in Inman. Get an early start on your Christmas shopping list! Check out the super fun and crafty items for sale by area crafters and businesses. And don’t miss the opportunity to get something yummy to eat at the food trucks!

Breakfast at the VFW- 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at the McPherson VFW, 120 S. Taft. The first Saturday of every month! Sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary Post 2715. Biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes (made to order), and coffee or water. $6 per Person, $4 for Kids under 10 (those under 4 years eat free).

Catapult- 7:30 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Catapult is an America’s Got Talent finalist from Season 8. This magical production features incredible dancers who work behind a screen to create shadow silhouettes of shapes from the world around us. Sunday, November 7th
Trail Ride- 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road, Canton. Riders must furnish their own horses. Trail ride begins at 10 a.m. Full or half day ride. Lunch provided by the Friends group. Reservations required. Thursday, November 11th
Veteran’s Day Celebration- 8 a.m-10 a.m. – free breakfast for Veterans and their guest at the American Legion, 401 N. Main, hosted by Kindred Hospice. Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. in Downtown McPherson. A ceremony will be held at the Park Department Building at 11 a.m. and will be carried live by the McPherson radio station.

Honoring Veterans- 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at the McPherson Senior Center, 112 E. Euclid. Hosted by Hospice & HomeCare of Reno/McPherson County to show appreciation of our Veterans and their service to our country. Veterans and a guest can enjoy a free root beer float treat!

Thursday, November 11th – Saturday, November 13th
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”- 7:30 p.m. at McPherson College, 1600 E. Euclid in Mingenback Theater and Brown Auditorium. This popular children’s story will be performed by MC Theatre Department and is a part of the college’s Children’s Theater initiative with USD 418 Elementary Schools. Saturday, November 13th
Lions Club 69th Annual Benefit Pancake Feed- 6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Windom Fire Station, 700 N. Main in Windom. Hosted by the Windom Lions Club. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, orange juice, milk, and coffee. Free will donation. A portion of the proceeds will go to a local family to help with funeral expenses for their son.

Holiday Card Making Event- 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the basement of Inman Mennonite Church, 304 S. Pine in Inman. Hosted by the Inman Arts Council. Each participant will make up to 3 holiday cards. Cost is $15. Register by emailing [email protected] by 5 p.m. on November 6, so that there will be enough supplies for everyone’s projects.

Holiday Open House- 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in Downtown Lindsborg. Start your holiday season with a full day of fun and shopping in Little Sweden USA. Individual store hours.

Royal Tea Party- 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.at St. Peters Church, 111 N. Pine in Inman. Hosted by the Inman FFA for girls K-5th grade. Some of the activities will include jewelry making, crown decorating and carriage rides! Cost: $25. Payment and registration due to the Inman High School office by October 22. Saturday, November 13th and Sunday, November 14th
Shrek the Musical- at Canton-Galva Jr/Sr High School Auditorium, 506 S. Kansas Ave. in Canton. Performance on November 13th is 7 p.m. On November 14th showtime is at 2 p.m. Come join Shrek and Donkey on their search for Fiona, while the Fairy Tale Creatures create a plan of their own against Lord Farquaad! Cost: Adults-$5, Students-$3.

Tuesday, November 16th
Veterans Recognition Assembly- 11 a.m. at Windom Elementary School, 101 Olive Avenue East. All area Veterans, including those in active duty, are invited to join students and staff for a program honoring Veterans for their service to our country. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. If you plan to attend, please call Windom School at 620-489-6241 by November 5th, so they can have a more accurate lunch count.

Community Fridge Project Food & Funds Drive- 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at MPNaz Church, 1455 N. Main. A drive thru fundraiser collecting food and funds for the upcoming community fridge project which will help those with food insecurity. Hang Up the Stress Ladies Night- 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Deerfield Clubhouse, 816 Clubhouse Drive. Hosted by the McPherson Recreation Commission. Cost: $35. Cost includes Mexican food and wooden door hanger project. Instructor is Linsey Morris. Must be 18 to participate. Wednesday, November 17th
Literary Quiz Night- 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin. A maximum of five teams will compete. Teams must consist of 3-4 participants. All team members and guests will be required to wear masks during the event. The team captain will enter one registration for their team. Girl’s Night Out- 4 p.m.-9 p.m. in McPherson. Mark your calendars for a fun shopping outing with your friends which will include games, prizes, refreshments, and more! Details TBA. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Public Tram Tour- 10 a.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road, Canton. A 45-minute tour of the Kansas prairie. Reservations required three days prior to the event. 26th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner- 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building – 122 E. Marlin. Doors will open at 11:15 a.m. No reservations required. American Legion Riders 33rd Annual Toy Run- The motorcycle parade will begin at 1 p.m. at Walmart parking lot (205 S. Centennial) and end up at the McPherson American Legion (401 N. Main). Benefitting McPherson families in need.

Benefit Concert for Diane Fallis: An Evening with PARAMOUNT Live- 8 p.m.-10:30 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. All proceeds from the evening will go toward medical, travel costs, and living expenses that have accrued as Diane continues to fight again Glioblastoma (GBM). Tickets can be purchased on the McPherson Opera House website at www.mcphersonoperahouse.org
