One of the first lessons that I learned as an Extension Agent is that I can’t do it all. 4-H volunteers play a vital role in the success of our programs. April 23rd through 29th, 2017 is National Volunteer Week. Harvey County 4-H is encouraging community members to use this week as a time to thank volunteers in their lives. Whether it is a phone call or a thank you note, join us in recognizing the volunteers who have impacted your life.
In Harvey County 4-H, we are lucky enough to have over 70 registered volunteers. These volunteers invest their time in Harvey County by serving as advisors, leaders, and overall mentors. Over time, these mentor relationships become profoundly important to youth as they become young adults. To all of our 4-H Volunteers, we extend a sincere “thank you”.
National Volunteer Week is a great time to get involved and give back. Here are ways individuals can take an active role at the 4-H and in their community:
Volunteer at the Harvey County Fair, August 5-9th, 2017.
Share your talent by teaching a “4-H Project Day”, a one-day workshop for youth.
Volunteer to be a project leader, teaching Harvey County youth about anything from cooking, bicycling, shooting sports and more.
Individuals who are interested in volunteering with 4-H in Harvey County can find more information about our volunteer screening process and volunteer “Most Wanted” list by visiting www.harvey.k-state.edu/4-h/volunteers.html.
