TOPEKA – An August 2 television news report indicated that Tuttle Creek State Park near Manhattan may not open next year due to flood damage. The report was actually referring to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) facilities. These are separate from Tuttle Creek State Park facilities which are operated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. Tuttle Creek State Park is open with only minor damage due to this summer’s high water levels.

Tuttle Creek State Park encompasses several areas. At the popular River Pond area, all utility sites, some primitive, all shower buildings, playground and shelters are open. The Riley Point and Rocky Ford areas are open. In the Cedar Ridge area, the Cedar Ridge main boat ramp is closed, and Wildcat Marina is open to modified operations. The Cedar Ridge cabins and primitive camping are open. Conditions are normal at the Randolph Area. The only area that is closed is Fancy Creek, but the shooting range is open.
