Wichita, Kan. –May 3, 2017 –The oldest member of the Prevent Child Abuse America chapter network is now the most recent to receive a charter from the organization.

Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL), the Kansas chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, has officially been re-chartered after successfully completing the rigorous Building Capacity Chartering process.

“We are extremely proud of the work we do for Kansas children and families to prevent child abuse and neglect before it happens in the first place,” said KCSL Prevent Child Abuse Kansas Director Vicky Roper. “Our dedicated program staff, partners, board members and parent leaders are the reason KCSL can produce strong outcomes and serve Kansas children and families effectively.”

Through the Building Capacity Chartering process, Prevent Child Abuse America chapters undergo an in-depth assessment based off the national office’s Nine Required Criteria. These criteria include demonstrating organizational accountability and stability, active participation in primary prevention, and a statewide scope of influence and activity. According to Prevent Child Abuse America, these criteria represent the standard for a sound and forward-looking organization that is able to implement a broad spectrum of effective prevention strategies, consistent with our mission.

“We are grateful to the leaders KCSL for undergoing this arduous process and for making sure they are best equipped to make a difference in the lives of children and families in Kansas,” said Dan Duffy, President & CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America. “We encourage everyone in Kansas to learn more what role they can play in supporting KCSL’s work to support the healthy development of all Kansas children and to prevent abuse and neglect before it can ever occur.”

Prevent Child Abuse America, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Chicago, is the nation’s oldest organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
