The Stauth Memorial Museum of Montezuma, KS along with area residents will honor 10 local Veterans with a quilt at a Quilts of Valor® Awards Presentation Ceremony & Reception at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 12, 2017. Volunteer quilters from southwest Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas have come together to stitch quilts with love, prayers, and patriotism to show appreciation to area heroes. These 10 quilts are all part of a patriotic quilt exhibit in remembrance of the 16th Anniversary of 9/11. Remembering: Quilts of Patriotism & Quilts of Valor is a very special exhibit of patriotic quilts displayed to remember and honor the brave men and women who have served our country. This is 2 exhibits in 1 display. The Quilts of Patriotism portion of the exhibit has 29 personal patriotic quilts on loan by area residents. The Quilts of Valor section has 33 patriotic quilts on display and will be donated into the Quilt of Valor Foundation ® (QOVF) at the close of the exhibit. Ten of these Quilts of Valor will be presented to area military service veterans at this presentation ceremony! The mission of the national Quilts of Valor® program is to cover service members and veterans who have been touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor®. These quilts that are honoring our veterans are a tangible reminder of America’s appreciation and gratitude for their service to our country. These exceptional quilts are meant to be lifelong heirlooms and are all created by volunteers who are to be commended for having accomplished making 33 quilts for the exhibit! We encourage everyone to come to this presentation ceremony to watch as these quilts are presented to 10 area veterans and witness how much they appreciate and cherish them. We invite you to come and share with them how much you thank them for their service, sacrifice and valor in serving our nation.
