Safety—Mental Health
Farmers, ranchers and agriculturalists have demanding lifestyles; physically and emotionally. In recent years it has become obvious people in the ag industry can be disproportionally affected by mental health issues in comparison to their urban counterparts. Here are a few points to consider about mental health.

Learning signs of mental illness can help detect it in those around us:
Sleep or appetite changes
Mood changes
Withdrawal
Drop in functioning
Problems thinking
Increased sensitivity
Apathy
Feeling disconnected
Illogical thinking
Nervousness
Unusual behavior
It is important to realize that every situation is different. Mental health issues can look different for every person.
Talking to loved ones, spouses, siblings, parents, etc. can be a crucial intervention and help to be a path toward improvement.
There are many resources available from various sources: MKC, KS Ag Stress, K-State.
