Go Big Red Popcorn

School is back in session and it’s time to pack lunches for your kiddos. Mix it up with Ashley Unruh’s Go Big Red Popcorn. She was the 4-H Champion snack this year at the county fair. It might not be the healthiest, but it sure is good and with the back to school moods being down, why not bring them up with a popcorn snack!

Go Big Red Popcorn

Ingredients:
6-7 quarts popped corn
1 12 ounce package of red hots
sugar
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon butter flavoring
1/4 teaspoon oil of cinnamon

Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Put red hots into a 2 cup liquid measuring cup and fill top with sugar. Boil all ingredients except soda and flavorings for 6 minutes. Remove from heat and add soda and flavorings. Pour over popped corn. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
