Beginner skills volleyball camp is next up of the variety of age and grade level camps offered in June by the Barton Community College volleyball program.   Monday will be the first of two days of the two day Beginner Skills Camp running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day at the Barton Gym.  This skill camp is a terrific two day experience introducing a solid foundation to the fundamental skills of the game and open to participants typically entering grades 4-6.  The Beginner Skills Camp will include a lot of drills and games to develop individual skill proficiency and confidence and serves as a great introduction to the Intermediate Skills Camp coming up June 22-24.  Cost for the Beginner Skills Camp is $100 per person with camp t-shirt provided.

Adding to the busy week for the Cougar Volleyball staff, position specific training is also being offered this week.  Level 1 being held Wednesday, June 17, is designed for players entering the 6-9 grade levels while Level 2 held on Thursday, June 18, is designed for players in the 10-12 grade level.  Each specific training camp date will have a morning (9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) session as players are given the option of choosing setting, hitting and blocking, or passing and defense to receive specific individual skill training.  Competitive, game-like drills will highlight the afternoon session to further enhance skills.  Held in the Kirkman Activity Center and the Barton Gym, cost is $25 for half day instruction or only $35 per player for a full day’s instruction.

Early registration is encouraged as space is limited for each camp with walk-ups welcome.  Additional information can be obtained by contacting Coach Shoemaker at (620) 792-9374 or online at www.BartonSports.com.
